Aros in Portree
Being in Skye takes you a long way from the big cities so far as organised entertainment goes, but you won't be deprived. There is a lot going on.
  • The most comprehensive facility on the island is Aros, just outside Portree. Here you will find a great wee theatre offering a regular diet of musical, theatrical and cinematic entertainment. There is plenty of popcorn for the kids' movies and a bar for half-time drinks during the opera.
  • Sabhal Mor Ostaig in Sleat, at the south end of the island, is another place with plenty of quality entertainment, much of it courtesy of SEALL. They arrange a full and varied programme of events with music, dance, drama, films and ceilidhs.
  • Skye Chamber Music attracts some classical musicians of genuine world class to perform on the island, usually in Portree.
  • The Dunvegan based Duirinish Media and Culture Club offers an eclectic programme of cinema.
  • And then there are the many pubs and hotels with live music and ceilidhs. Worth a particular mention are the traditional music sessions at the Edinbane Inn.
